Determined to make a difference, Rachel’s new goal is to build a school and additional homes

In May, 11-year-old Rachel Wheeler traveled to Haiti to dedicate the village she fund-raised for two years to build in Haiti with the nonprofit Food For The Poor. The residents in “Rachel’s Village” greeted her with a hero’s welcome, clapping and singing songs of praise and thanks. It was here, in the coastal village of Kay Piti, in Leogane, among the new vibrantly painted homes, that Rachel realized not all children are able to attend school. Determined to make a difference, Rachel’s new goal is to build and furnish a school, in addition to constructing 20 additional homes.

Rachel’s school will be constructed in Reap de Morel, Leogane. This school was destroyed during the January 2010 earthquake. Prior to the earthquake, 250 students from kindergarten to the sixth grade were registered to attend the school. Classes are currently held in a one-room, makeshift structure that floods when it rains. Rusted sheet-metal, pieces of wood and blue tarps offer students little protection from the weather.

Please continue to donate to Rachel’s initiative, and be the answer to the prayers of families who have nowhere to call home, and no access to an education. To support Rachel’s building initiative, tax-deductible donations can be made on this webpage.

You are an amazing person...even those who have what it takes to donate doesn't necessarily have what it takes to do what your doing. It has nothing to do with someone's age it is about what a person is thinking and planning at all times, and because years of experience at life can change your thinking we are often judged by age, but you are clearly an exception because of your determination and kind will. To be able to see your goal so clearly and not just go off running your mouth but actually doing as promised takes a lot of courage and heart. I am glad that someone like you still exist in this world. May god be with you and your kind will, I hope it never change. God bless you and your work so that your wish to make others happy come true and more people will rise from the crowd to lend a hand. I am someone incapable of doing things like you, but what I can do is pray for you all, and so I will.

You are an amazing young lady devoting your time, effort and spirit to the people of Haiti. Such an outstanding achievement for a person of your age. God Bless You.
Oprah Winfrey (of OWN network fame, and a renowed talk show host) also builds schools. Maybe you o someone in your organization can contact her for help with your fund drive to build a school in Haiti.
Your efforts deserve to be paid forward with many good deeds.
God Bless You

Rachel,
I so admire what you have done and are still doing. I would love to help: I am an artist who has illustrated childrens books. I would like to send you a collection of these books for the library you are developing in Haiti. The very realistic illustrations are multi racial. The text is in english- would they be helpful?
If you would like the books, let me know where to mail them and when you will be starting to collect items like this for the library. Keep up the good work!

Rachel, never mind those that say help in America...the Spirit of God gave you a burden for Haiti, so you need to go where you were sent because you were sent exactly where you could do the very most good. Haiti has had a lot of problems in it's past...there have been dark times, but what you are doing brings wonderful light to the people there. You just keep on doing what you are doing. The spirit will tell you when it is time to do something else and in another place. You are gaining huge amounts of good karma for your work and you will be well blessed for your efforts. I am so very proud of you!
