Help us support Little Children of Jesus

Friends:

Haiti, a month after the earthquake, changed me when I visited. My church is now different. Prior to Haiti, prior to the earthquake, I read the gospels differently. As a worship leader, I used to help raise money for remodeling sanctuaries-rallying to buy padded pews for the comfort of our congregations, deciding this is what will win members. I lead differently now, after Haiti. Comfortable pews may or may not win membership; but without question, 'missions' transform us from members to disciples. I now watch lives radically changed by the Holy Spirit through service; grown men becoming mighty and reckless with radical faith, capable of changing the world, hardly caring if their pew is soft or not. I read that Jesus asked Peter, the bedrock of our church, to feed his sheep, to show his love. I think Jesus had in mind for us to live lean and give big; not give lean and live big. Our Church is really simple now, we feed sheep, period; and add transformed disciples to the flock daily.

A reflection after reading John 21:15-19 while in Haiti:

Jesus said come-We Came with great excitement.
Jesus said, if you love me, feed my sheep; we respond 'of course we love you lord,
but first we must organize.'
Jesus said, if you love me, feed my sheep; we respond 'of course we love you lord,
but first we must keep organized to keep order.
Jesus said, if you love me, feed my sheep; we respond 'of course we love you lord,
but first we must build houses in your honor to so we can organize, so we can keep order in the house that we built for you.
Jesus said, if you love me, feed my sheep; we respond, in order to keep order, organize your house, we must keep out those who do not understand our order.
Jesus said, if you love me, feed my sheep...we could not hear His voice, there was too much chatter.

I heard Jesus' voice. It was in the hope of the people of Haiti. Today, I heard songs of praise behind the rubble. Jesus asked Peter to feed his sheep; Peter did. Jesus continues to ask us, and we respond the same. Returning to the roots of our Christian walk that started with Peter...changed me, changed others, and will continue to change the world.
