They have absolutely nothing. Lacking food, basic shelter, a source of income and an education, many poor families in the Caribbean and Latin America are so destitute they need everything. Although these families long to become self-sufficient, they are forced to live in hovels and beg for scraps. They hope for the opportunity to live in a sturdy house and learn a trade that will help them break free from the cycle of poverty forever. All they ask for is a “hand-up” — not a handout.
My name is Pierce and I am 8-years-old. I read that people are having to eat cookies made out of clay and salt because they don't have enough food. I want to raise enough funds so that 10 families can have their lives changed! This "everything for a family with nothing" package offers just that. (each package is $3582) It doesn't cost much, considering the remarkable changes this gift makes in the lives of a destitute family. They receive a new house with a latrine, food for one full year, a small business project (such as sewing), coverage for school expenses for their children, clothing and shoes.
